Yes, he writes awesome synth music. So he can play stunning improvisations on the piano, too! The way he improvises is a bit like Frank Zappa played his guitar solos live: It sounds very structured, pretty much like a composition. Obviously, he's got a clear vision in his head beforehand, which he can spool out directly to his fingers. Favorite track: Strength.

This is a collection of improvised piano pieces built thematically around 11 selected Major Arcana of the Tarot.

My process involved playing to a feeling until I thought the focus was lost. I would then stop, edit, and continue playing until the idea ran it's course, after which I would continue to edit until the piece felt complete.

If you are a fan of 70's prog like King Crimson, ELP and Yes then this is a must have album. I picked the second track because of the fantastic mellotron! However track 7 is also brilliant with King Crimson and Genesis being played. The production of this album is also first class especially when you consider this was recorded live!! Gideon
